PAULINA RUBIO HONORED AT THE BIG HEART HUMANITARIAN AWARDS PRESENTED BY THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION,
Miami, FL – June 1, 2009 – Paulina Rubio, one of Latin music’s best selling female artists of all time and music icon, was honored last Saturday May 30 at this year’s Big Heart Humanitarian Awards. The awards took place at the Eden Roc in Miami Beach, FL. World leaders, celebrities, business leaders and philanthropists gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of the honorees and to support the American Heart Association's mission to save lives and encourage philanthropic generosity throughout the world.
The Big Heart Humanitarian Awards seek to honor outstanding individuals who have achieved the highest levels of excellence in their respective fields while also making an extraordinary impact on people's lives throughout the world. The Big Heart Humanitarian Award is presented annually at the Heart Ball and Awards Ceremony to honor leaders who make an extraordinary contribution to the world in three categories: the arts, business and goodwill.
By honoring internationally-prominent individuals whose successes are in the fields of business, arts and goodwill, the American Heart Association is able to extend its reach in the media and increase awareness of heart disease. The Big Heart Humanitarian Awards serves as a catalyst for continued philanthropic generosity throughout the world with the American Heart Association and these award recipients at the helm.
The Big Heart Award is being given to Paulina for her impact on the world through her music and philanthropy. Other honorees were Maria Celeste (Media), Romero Britto (Arts), Bill Hefferman (Business), and Lady Monica Heftler (Philanthropy)
Paulina had this to say during her acceptance speech:
“I am thrilled to be sharing this evening with you all; to honor your cause, to honor your Heart Heroes; to support your programs and celebrate all of the work that the American Heart Association does.
Go Red For Women celebrates the energy, passion and power we have as women to band together to wipe out heart disease and stroke. I believe in that power and I believe that we can do it.
Thank you for inviting me to join forces with the American Heart Association---this honor and this red dress are for you!”
The dress Paulina wore that night will be auctioned off in Los Angeles during the month of October. All proceeds will go to the American Heart Association.

Los premios se llevaron a cabo en el Eden Roc de Miami Beach y contó con la presencia de líderes mundiales, celebridades y filántropos. Todo reunidos con el fin de celebrar los logros de los homenajeados y apoyar la misión de la Asociación Americana del Corazón de salvar vidas y exhortar la generosidad filantrópica alrededor del mundo.
Los Big Heart Humanitarian Awards le rinden tributo a individuos que han alcanzado los más altos niveles de excelencia en sus diferentes ramas al mismo tiempo que tienen un impacto positivo en el mundo.

El traje utilizado por Paulina esa noche será subastado en Los Angeles durante el mes de octubre; todo lo que recaude será a beneficio de la Asociación Americana del Corazón.
Este premio llega al mismo tiempo que Paulina es nombrada Embajadora De Turismo del Estado de Quintana Roo en Mexico.
