ARTHUR HANLON FEATURED ON “CRESCENDO-WHY MUSIC IS LIFE”
The CNN en Español Testimonial Will Air Throughout U.S. as Preview to Gustavo Dudamel Documentary

Pianist Arthur Hanlon and his music will be featured on the CNN en Español documentary Crescendo – Why music is life, a special 20-minute production that chronicles the importance of music in children’s lives and explores the role of music in society. The documentary, produced by CNN’s Felipe Barral, will air June 23rd at 7 PM EST in more than select 400 movie theatres across the United States through NCM Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network.

Hanlon is interviewed in the documentary and also performs live his composition “Piano Sin Fronteras.” The documentary—which also features testimonials from other Latin stars, including Emilio Estefan, Fanny Lu, Gloria Trevi, Luis Enrique and Ricardo Montaner–will air previous to the grand debut of Dudamel: Let the Children Play, a documentary about children and youth orchestras that are emerging in many countries of the world, inspired by the Venezuelan musical and educational program “El Sistema.”

“This project truly struck a chord,” says Hanlon, who holds a master’s degree from Manhattan School of Music and who has long supported musical education in the U.S. and Colombia. “Music has been the defining, definitive force of my life,” added Hanlon, who in the documentary recounts how he became enamored of the piano when his father brought a piano home for Christmas when he was only 6 years old.

“Everybody was dancing around the piano, but all I could do was listen, enthralled. I couldn’t believe this instrument could produce such beautiful music. It’s an honor to discuss the importance of music and music education in the context of maestro Dudamel’s work.”

“Crescendo—Why Music is Life,” will also soon be available as a special edition of Showbiz on CNN en Español that will air on Wednesday, July 13th at 3 PM (ET).

Hanlon is currently at work on a major television special as well as his new album for Universal Music Latino, produced by Julio Reyes, of Marc Anthony and Jennifer López fame.

“Crescendo—Why Music is Life,” también se podrá ver como una edición especial de Showbiz por CNN en Español que saldrá al aire el Miércoles, 13 de julio a las 3 PM.

Hanlon actualmente está trabajando en su primer gran especial televisivo y está grabando su próximo álbum para Universal Music Latino, bajo la producción de Julio Reyes, quien también ha producido para Marc Anthony y Jennifer López.
