Hector “El Father” has reached new artistic levels with his solo debut album “The Bad Boy.” This album, set to drop November 21, 2006 under the seals of VI Music and Machete Music includes a mix of rhythms, spanning from the traditional ‘dembow’ to R&B, and Hip-Hop among other beats.
Unlike other music on the market today, “The Bad Boy” doesn’t sell dreams to the public. Hector keeps it real. Drawing from his life trajectory, Hector does not deceive the public with tales of glory; he allows his art to speak for itself.
The artistic career of Hector “El Father” started in the mid-nineties alongside the known soloist Tito “El Bambino.” At the time, they were the most representative duo of the genre and attained unmeasured success. They were the first artists of the movement to fill a mass concert in Puerto Rico. Their work opened the gates for other famous artists such as Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, Tego Calderon and Wisin y Yandel. They also won important awards like the Billboard for Latin Music, which caused local and international radio stations to play their music. This connected them with the public and placed the contagious rhythm born in Puerto Rico in the world’s view. In 2004, after 12 years of continuous success, the duo “Hector and Tito,” split and decided to pursue different artistic paths.
After the amicable separation, Hector “El Father,” with his own record label, Gold Star Music, began breaking all of the schemes of the reggaeton genre. The musical production titled “Los Anormarles,” edited at the end of 2004 by his own label, gathered important reggaeton artists like Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, Trebol Calan, Divino, Zion, Alexis y Fido, among others. The album beat all other records by selling 130,000 copies two days after its debut.
Hector began 2005 with a solo debut for an audience of more that 60,000 in Pasto, Colombia. In February of that same year, he performed in all the important carnival festivals of the Canaries Islands.
His songs have become anthems in the reggaeton culture. “Noche de Travesuras,” “Los Rompe Discotecas,” “Vamo’ pa’ la calle,” “Noche de Terror,” and “Dale Calor” are only a few of his ground-breaking mega hits. Hector, has performed in several cities in the United States including New York, Miami, Orlando, San Diego, San Francisco, Boston, Houston, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.
Offstage, the artist has been successful as an entrepreneur. He owns the prestigious “Luxor” nightclub in Puerto Rico, one of the best in the reggaeton genre.
This year, “El Father” took a big step in his career by signing a contract with Hip-Hop super star, Jay-Z. The artists worked together and prepared “Los Rompediscotekas,” produced by Island Def Jam, a record label owned by Jay-Z. This album compiles several Hip-Hop and reggaeton artists, including Jay-Z himself, Fat Joe, Wisin y Yandel, Alexis y Fido, Yomo, among others. “Los Rompediscotekas” reached the top of the selling charts.
Hector “El Father” is a role model for Latino youth. He is the prominent figure in the advertising campaigns for Roc-A-Wear, also owned by Jay-Z. The campaign includes commercials for television, print and billboards. Hector’s contract with Roc-A-Wear gives him exclusivity over the Bambino line, through which he will show his fashionable designs for the Hip-Hop and reggaeton market. Hector will also set the trend for Reebok sport shoes within Jay-Z’s “S. Carter Collection.”
Hector’s own label, called “Gold Star Music,” is one of the most important of the genre. It counts with the presence of the most recognized artists of reggaeton, like Yomo, Polaco, and the “Algarete” band. Hector and these important artists are likely to attract more support and recognition for the label.
All these accomplishments have placed Hector in the prefect position to pursue a major career challenge, his first solo record: “The Bad Boy.” This achievement will position him as the trend-setter he is and give the world an opportunity to see what he’s all about. The entire album is Hector’s undertaking. In it, he counts only with a few special participants: Ken-Y, Polaco, and one the most loved females in Puerto Rico, Ednita Nazario.
“The Bad Boy” was produced by Hector in collaboration with his manager, the legendary Emilio Estefan. Other musical producers in it include Tainy, Mambo Kingz, Mekka, and Wondel. The album has a total of 18 tracks that will give the public a great chance to enjoy Hector’s mature, artistic, and romantic self. This is definitely a Hector that the public has not yet seen but will definitely love!
