MOST CELEBRATED LATIN ARTIST AND INTERNATIONAL MUSIC ICON ALEJANDRO SANZ CLOSES 2019 ABLAZE AS HE CELEBRATES ANOTHER GRAMMY NOMINATION

Miami, FL – December 10, 2019 – Alejandro Sanz needs no introduction. A pioneer and visionary, Alejandro is one of the leading voices who has helped bring Latin music and talent to the mainstream and has forever changed the trajectory of the industry. Alejandro has broken records and toppled barriers, both as an artist as well as a humanitarian, and there are no signs of slowing down as he prepares for his biggest year yet.
After selling more than 25 million albums, Sanz is still making major waves with his music around the world. His latest studio album, #ELDISCO, has received gold and platinum certifications in four countries and one of its biggest hits, “Mi Persona Favorita” featuring Camila Cabello, has received gold certification in the United States. The album has also been nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Latin Pop Album, and this latest recognition is one of special significance for the artist.
This nomination comes on the heels of his Latin GRAMMY sweep where he received the most nominations (eight in total), and walked away with three awards: Record of the Year and Best Pop Song for “Mi Persona Favorita,” as well as Best Long Form Music Video for his documentary, “Lo Que Fui Es Lo Que Soy.” Sanz is officially now the most awarded Spanish artist with three GRAMMYs and 24 Latin GRAMMYs.
#ElDisco is a compilation of 10 songs and includes collaborations with various megastars, such as Camila Cabello (“Mi Persona Favorita”), Nicky Jam (“Back In The City”), Residente (“Los Lugares”) and the Catalan singer-songwriter Judit Neddermann (“Este Segundo”). It also includes an alternative version of the song “Te Canto Un Son,” performed with binaural beats, the revolutionary soundwave technology that creates an auditory experience unlike any other.
This latest studio album commemorates what has been a truly epic year for Sanz, demonstrating his ability to constantly connect and resonate with audiences everywhere. It was revealed that Sanz is part of the ‘Class of 2020’ set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He also finished his sold-out tour, #LAGIRA, after a whirlwind 16 stops across the US, which included concerts in Chicago, New York, Orlando, San Diego and two back-to-back shows in Miami. One of the greatest highlights of his tour was the part of the show dedicated to #DREAMERS. Through a fundraising campaign, Alejandro Sanz invited his followers to join the #DreamerTeam and contribute to three important organizations, including Dream Big Nevada’s, the DACA renewal fund provides funding for Dreamers to renew their status; Ascend Educational Fund provides funding for education; and Immigrants Rising’s ‘Entrepreneurship Fund’ provides grants to undocumented entrepreneurs working to create positive social change. Many of his friends from around the world have joined his #DreamerTeam, like Leo Messi, Camila Cabello, Shakira, Juanes, Dani Alves, Juan Luis Guerra, Maná, Luis Fonsi and J Balvin, and the initiative has been shared among their social media platforms reaching an audience of more than 570 million followers.
Alejandro has not been shy of receiving personal accolades throughout his career as well. Not only did he receive an honorary Doctor of Music degree from Berklee, but he was also named the 2017 Latin GRAMMY Person of the Year award for his contributions to society and music. Aside from his endeavors towards immigration policy, Alejandro also has taken a role to bring awareness to climate change. Today, Alejandro opened the floor at the high-level segment of the UN Climate Change Conference COP25 in Madrid inviting all governments, companies and peoples to change our footprint here on Earth for a better tomorrow.
