LOS ANGELES, California. (February 8, 2008): At the 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards, Latin music’s top selling urban artists, Wisin & Yandel won the GRAMMY® for Best Latin Urban Album of the Year for their acclaimed multiplatinum production, “Wisin vs. Yandel: Los Extraterrestres”, the same CD that recently garnered a Latin GRAMMY® for Best Urban Album.
“We thank the Recording Academy and our peers in the industry for this wonderful recognition. Winning a GRAMMY® is a great honor and a blessing,” said Wisin. “We dedicate this award to our families, our fans, our management team and our beautiful island of Puerto Rico,” added Yandel.
“Wisin vs. Yandel, Los Extraterrestres” currently has four Premio Lo Nuestro nominations. The most highly rated US Latin awards show will be broadcast live March 26th on the Univision Network. The following day, Wisin & Yandel will become the first Reggaeton artists to perform at the National Auditorium in Mexico, DF. During the month of March, they will also perform in Santiago, Dominican Republic; Guadalajara, Veracruz, Monterrey, Piedras Negras, Merida and in the state of Mexico.
The duo’s current single is currently number one on the Urban Latin Charts according to Media Base.
In the past year alone, Wisin and Yandel have sold out the Staples Center and Madison Square Garden in the US, filled to capacity 12 concerts in Mexico and performed to an audience of 175,000 in Venezuela. Their exhilarating concerts have received such popular demand that they are continuing their tour in 2009.
